Prof Patrizia Paterlini Brechot

Rarecells

Founder and President at Rarecells, Professor at Université de Paris

Description

Patrizia Paterlini-Bréchot is a distinguished scientist and entrepreneur who has made significant contributions to the field of cancer research and early detection. Her work is closely aligned with the goals of longevity and health extension, making her a fitting speaker for the Tech for Longevity event in Paris. Patrizia Paterlini-Bréchot is a Professor of Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University Paris Descartes and a Hospital Practitioner at Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris. She leads a research team at the Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (INSERM), focusing on cancer research since 1982 and specifically on circulating tumor cells since 1995. In 2000, Professor Paterlini-Bréchot and her team invented the ISET®️ (Isolation by Size of Tumor cells) technology, a revolutionary filtration method for isolating rare Circulating Tumor Cells (CTC) from blood. This invention allows for early cancer detection, potentially before tumors are visible through conventional imaging methods. Paterlini-Bréchot is the founder and president of Rarecells, a company that develops and commercializes the ISET®️ technology. Her work bridges the gap between academic research and practical applications in healthcare, demonstrating the potential for scientific innovations to extend human healthspan. Her contributions to the field have been widely recognized. In 2019, she was nominated as a finalist for the European Inventor Award in the "Research" category by the European Patent Office. She has also received prestigious awards from the American Society of Cytopathology and the Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Paris. Patrizia Paterlini-Bréchot's participation in the Tech for Longevity event in Paris underscores the importance of early disease detection and innovative medical technologies in the pursuit of extended healthspan and improved quality of life.
